AYM MISSION: Ascension Youth Ministry (“AYM”) encourages and strengthens the young people of Ascension by empowering them to live as disciples of Jesus Christ, drawing them into full participation in the Catholic faith community, and fostering their personal and spiritual growth. We seek to love God and make God’s love known through prayer, example, hospitality, teaching, and enthusiastic outreach within a comprehensive parish youth ministry.

Hello! My name is Deana Padgett and I am the new Coordinator of Ascension Youth Ministry. I am truly looking forward to working with the Ascension youth in developing their Catholic faith, encouraging their personal and spiritual growth and creating opportunities for fellowship and fun.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself. I was born and raised in Hikes Point, Kentucky. Prior to working at Church of the Ascension, I have served as a Guidance Counselor at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School and for Bullitt County Public Schools. I have also worked in various counseling positions at the University of Louisville.

I am married to my wonderful husband Ron and we have three children: Bethany (11), Will (9) and Noah (6). We are parishioners at St. Gabriel Church. While at St. Gabriel, I have been a religious catechist for the 6th, 7th and 8th graders in the Religious Education Program. I have also been a Children's Church teacher and helped coordinate Vacation Bible School.

I will be working with the Ascension Youth Ministry Board to continue developing a dynamic, active and exciting youth ministry program that meets the needs of Ascension youth.
