Ascension community,

We hope everyone had a blessed and joyful Christmas season filled with peace, family, and time to reflect on the birth of Christ. As we return to the rhythms of January, our students are back on campus, already hard at work and in the midst of winter MAP testing. Our mission at Ascension Catholic School is to develop Christian thought leaders. That mission comes to life each day as students grow in faith, character, and academic excellence within a safe, supportive community.

There is so much to celebrate at Ascension as we prepare for Catholic Schools Week, January 24–30, and we invite all parishioners, families, and friends to join us in celebrating what makes Catholic education—and our Ascension community—so special.

A highlight of the week will be our Open House on Tuesday, January 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to invite friends, neighbors, coworkers, and extended family to see Ascension in action. Guests will experience our classrooms, meet our teachers and students, and feel the strong sense of faith, safety, and community that defines our school. If you know a family seeking an outstanding Catholic education in a welcoming community, please send them our way—we would love to meet them.

Our celebration begins with Saturday Mass on January 24 at 4:00 p.m., followed by a full week of activities honoring our parish, parents, community, vocations, faculty and staff, and students. From student-created thank-you cards and parish recognition to faculty appreciation and a spirited pep rally, the week reflects the joy and unity of our Ascension family.

As part of Catholic Schools Week, we are pleased to recognize Henry Kerger (1st grade), Henry Welsh (5th grade), and Ella O’Daniel (6th grade) for exemplifying the ideals of Catholic education through kindness, respect for others, leadership, and a commitment to learning. These students will be recognized at the 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday, January 25, and together they exemplify what it means to live our mission of developing Christian thought leaders.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the St. Regis Park Council and the residents of St. Regis Park for their generous donation supporting improvements to the safety of our playground.

Finally, we offer our sincere thanks to all of our parishioners for their continued prayers, encouragement, and support of Ascension Catholic School. Your generosity and faith make our mission possible and strengthen the community we are proud to serve.

This year’s theme, Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community, captures who we are at Ascension. Faith development, academic excellence, and service remain at the heart of all we do.

We look forward to celebrating with you—and welcoming new families into our Ascension community.

Devotedly yours in Christ,

Terrence Mullaney
