FROM THE PRINCIPAL
He is Risen! He is Risen! He is Risen!
Pope Francis addressed a crowd of people in St. Peter’s Square from a window of the Apostolic Palace today (4/10/23).

He encouraged Christians to not be held back by fear of judgment, but to share the good news of Christ’s resurrection with others.

“At times we think the way to be close to God is by keeping him close to us; because then, if we reveal ourselves and start to talk about it, judgements, criticisms come.”

“Perhaps,” he added, “we do not know how to respond to certain questions or provocations, and so (we think) it is better not to talk about it, to close ourselves: no, this is not good.”

“Instead, the Lord comes while we proclaim Him,” he continued. “This is what the women teach us: we encounter Jesus by witnessing Him. Let us put this in our hearts: Jesus is met by witnessing Him.”

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter and continue the celebration of the Resurrection throughout this Easter season! I further hope we can all proclaim Him, together, as a community in all we do.

APRIL IS CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH!
From the Archdiocese of Louisville:
“Today we celebrate the hope of Easter. Did you know that children of abuse long to hear this message of hope? Victims of crime, their families and loved ones need to know that their voices are heard. Organizations throughout the nation are striving to share the message that He has risen and there is hope. Each of us has a unique ability to support individuals who are hurting, to promote healthy relationships, and to build communities that are safe from those who may want to do harm. How have you been called to be an ambassador of hope and healing?”

ACE DAY
ACADEMIC CURRICULUM ENHANCEMENT (ACE) day is coming up on May 24, 2023. Volunteers are needed to help with monitoring session presenters, hall supervision, outside runners, etc. Please sign up at the link below!
What is ACE Day?
Together with their teachers, staff and administrators the Ascension students work hard throughout the school year to meet academic goals. To celebrate their accomplishments and further their academic experiences Ascension provides students with an end of the year day of academic curriculum enhancement known as ACE day. On this day students participate in special activities and presentations lead by members of the Ascension community and local organizations.
The Ace planning committee organizes sessions in various areas of interest such as a presentation from the planetarium, a visit from the police and fire departments, an introductory Karate class, yoga, arts and crafts, cooking, soccer, archery, magic tricks, science experiments, pet training and much, much more. Students are given the opportunity to sign up for sessions that interest them. They will spend the day moving from one activity to another. ACE day is an exciting day for students and a great way to end the school year.

BOX TOPS COLLECTION
Did you know that Ascension is a Box Tops school? During this challenging time, our teachers and students need more help than ever. No matter what school looks like, Box Tops for Education is a fast and easy way for you to help out from home.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: Buy participating products and use the Box Tops mobile app to scan your store receipt. The app identifies eligible products and automatically adds Box Tops to your school’s earnings online. Even if you’re shopping online or doing grocery pickup, you can still submit your e-receipts and earn Box Tops. Twice a year, our school gets a check!

The PTO uses money earned from Box Tops to fund our iPad program and other classroom needs for our students!

Here’s how YOU can help earn money for our school!
• DOWNLOAD the Box Tops app and select our school to support. This ensures that your Box Tops purchases count toward our school’s earnings.
• SHOP for Box Tops products and use the app to scan your receipt to add to our school’s earnings online.
• LOOK for any remaining Box Tops clips on packages. If you find some, clip them and send them to school!
• SPREAD THE WORD about Box Tops!
FUN TIP: You can also use the “Invite Friends” feature in the app to ask friends and family to help support our school!

Your earnings may seem small, but they really do add up. The more people that participate, the bigger the impact we can make. So let’s give our teachers the support they need and help give more kids the opportunity to dream. Little by little, we can help make a BIG difference.
