IDLE FREE LOUISVILLE
Ascension is excited to be a part of an Idle Free Louisville and do our part for cleaner air for all to breathe, especially our students. The exhaust from idling vehicles poses a health risk for children, drivers and the community at large. Unfortunately, one of the areas where unnecessary idling occurs most often is at schools where parents in car rider lines wait to pick up their children. This is one hazard that can be easily prevented and we are committed to be part of the solution. As Pope Francis has directed us, we must take care of our environment.
Did you know…
• Children are more susceptible to asthma because their lungs are not fully developed and they breathe 50 percent more per pound of body weight than adults.
• Asthma is the most common chronic illness among children.
• Just one vehicle dropping off and picking up one child at school puts about three pounds of pollution into the air per month.
• Vehicles that idle for ten minutes use more gas than they would if the vehicle was restarted.
• Working together, we can make a difference and reduce air pollution from vehicles. Let’s take care of God’s creation!
The simple step of turning the key will improve air quality at our school and will help us all breathe easier. Please join us in spreading the message: Turn the key and be Idle Free!
Thank you for your support in making Ascension School and Idle Free School.
Sincerely,
Ascension’s Fifth Grade Class

PRESCHOOL OPENINGS
We have a few openings in our Three-year-old Preschool class for the upcoming school year (2019-2020). We would love for you to be a part of our Ascension School Family! Through guided play and exploration your preschooler will build their love for learning as well as develop important and vital social and emotional skills that will be carried with them throughout their academic career and beyond. Students will begin the process of learning their letters, numbers, writing names and engaging in the world around them to continue to foster their creativity. We begin faith formation by attending mass, discussing God’s creation and fostering a sense of community by participating in service projects. If you want to be a part of this please call to schedule a tour.
