ASCENSION SINGERShttps://forms.gle/2bdhNHKTbmUb3dv79
Ascension’s Youth Choir invites all students in grades 3-8 to make a joyful noise to the Lord! The choir is comprised of both students who attend and do not attend Ascension Catholic School. This ensemble meets once a week and sings regularly for the Saturday Mass at 4:00 PM and special liturgies, helping to lead the assembly in prayer through music. Ascension Singers are also involved in community outreach through performance and service opportunities. Rehearsals are held on Wednesday’s from 6:00–7:00 PM in the Church. Rehearsals for the Fall will begin on August 28th. We have many opportunities planned including: Frazier Museum, Light up Jeffersontown, Nursing Home Carols, Christmas Eve Mass, and more!

ASCENSION RINGERShttps://forms.gle/n3AgVb6V57TpCBWj7
We are excited to reintroduce a hand bell ensemble at Ascension!
This is an inter-generational group of individuals and families who enjoy making music in a communal setting. This ensemble ministers through hand bell ringing at various weekend Masses and outreach in the community. Prior experience or the ability to read music is NOT required. Participants meet twice a month for rehearsals. The first rehearsal in the Fall will be September 16th from 6:30–7:30 PM in the Church.

ASCENDING VOICES (Adult Choir)
Vocal ensemble open to high school students and adults. This ensemble provides music for Sunday Mass at 10:30 AM and special liturgies, helping to lead the assembly in prayer through music. Prior experience or the ability to read music is NOT required. Choir practice is held on Wednesday’s from 7:15–8:30 PM in the Church. Rehearsals for the Fall will begin on September 4th and all are invited to come “try choir out for a night” and see what it is like!

CHRISTMAS COMMUNITY CANTATAhttps://forms.gle/CiqK4gjN9nbQKET8A
We are looking forward to an amazing Advent and Christmas Season here at Ascension! One of the highlights this year is will be our Community Christmas Cantata as we share the good news and joy of Christmas. This opportunity is open to any and all who wish to be a part of something fun with others and share in the joy of Christmas. This is a great opportunity for families to join together once a week for rehearsals in preparation of a musical program to share with the community. Rehearsals will be on Sundays from 6:30–7:30 PM beginning on November 3rd in the Church. The final performance, open to the community, will be on Sunday, December 15th at 6:30 PM.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD
Coming this Fall: All Stars and Time Travelers!
Ascension is excited to introduce a new and exciting Children’s Liturgy of the Word program where children age 3 through 3rd grade get to learn about Jesus in a creative and relevant way. Our Children’s Liturgy of the Word program will be divided into All Stars (age 3 – Kindergarten) and Time Travelers (Grades 1-3). During this time, your child will travel back in time to meet some heroes of the Bible, sing along with worship music, and hear a relevant message that follows the same topic that parents and young adults will hear at Mass. Children’s Liturgy of the Word is available Sunday at 10:30 AM Mass.
We are in need of more teachers for our Children’s Liturgy of the Word program at Ascension. Middle School students can get service hours for assisting with CLTW and we also invite High School students to become teachers for this important ministry. If you are interested in serving as a Children’s Liturgy of the Word teacher, please contact Holly Smith at hsmith@ascension-parish.com Training and materials are provided! The next meeting for teachers is Monday, August 19th at 7:00 PM.

MINISTRY OF ASCENSIONhttps://www.ascension-parish.com/liturgical-ministries/
There are many ministries and ways to get involved at Ascension. We invite you to check out the ministries above and prayerfully discern over any options that you and your family can serve in. At Ascension we encourage our youth to explore various liturgical ministries and I want to foster their interest in ministry in the Church. If you and your student are interested in any ministries I would love to get them involved during the weekend Masses at Ascension. Holly Smith, Worship & Music Director, hsmith@ascension-parish.com
