ARCHERY – GR’S. 4-8
Who – you and your child(ren) who are in 4th – 8th grade
What – Ascension Archery Team meeting & bow fitting
When – Monday October 2nd @ 4:30 – 5:30. Expect the meeting to be 10-15 minutes then we will get the kids fitted to bows. (if you can’t come or need to be late just let me know)
Where – Ascension Gym
Why – Come meet us and find out why your child should be a student archer. We will also fit bows and learn the basics of shooting so we are ready to start in our first practice.
Cost – $100 – This includes most tournament fees & a shirt for competition. We will host a tournament to pay for the rest.
Sign up – https://forms.gle/KvCRR16eQFgimaqq7 We will be capping the team to 24. If the form is closed and you’re still interested reach out to me. If we have enough interest we can discuss the possibilities of a second team.
Practice times – Mondays 4:30-6:00
Tournaments – Mid November – March on Saturdays (generally)
Questions – email me at esipes.ea@gmail.com

Can I do archery and other sports? The short answer is yes. Ascension sports are easy to work with, club sports are much harder since they require weekends of attention and don’t release schedules very early.
Competitive archery is open to all 4th through 8th grade students enrolled at Ascension. We will compete in the National Archery in the Schools Program. https://www.naspschools.org/

At the parent meeting we will get all kids who need a school bow fitted. If your child owns a bow please bring it and we can make any adjustments and see if any maintenance is needed before the season starts. We will also be making string bows and learning the basic steps to shooting.

Equipment
We are lucky that Ascension has bows to lend out. Depending on how many are needed we may have to share.

If you are going to buy your own equipment and you aren’t 100% sure what to buy, please talk to me or one of the other coaches before you purchase. There is only one bow and one type of arrow allowed at competition.

Competition
Tournaments are generally held on Fridays and Saturdays. We will typically compete on Saturdays. We will have a couple of time slots available to try and accommodate other sports and schedules as best we can.

We will host a tournament Nov 11th to help cover tournament fees, equipment repairsreplacements, and other goodies for our program. We will need as much help for this event as we can get. More info to come.

BOX TOPS COLLECTION
Did you know that Ascension is a Box Tops school? During this challenging time, our teachers and students need more help than ever. No matter what school looks like, Box Tops for Education is a fast and easy way for you to help out from home.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: Buy participating products and use the Box Tops mobile app to scan your store receipt. The app identifies eligible products and automatically adds Box Tops to your school’s earnings online. Even if you’re shopping online or doing grocery pickup, you can still submit your e-receipts and earn Box Tops. Twice a year, our school gets a check!

The PTO uses money earned from Box Tops to fund our iPad program and other classroom needs for our students!

Here’s how YOU can help earn money for our school!
• DOWNLOAD the Box Tops app and select our school to support. This ensures that your Box Tops purchases count toward our school’s earnings.
• SHOP for Box Tops products and use the app to scan your receipt to add to our school’s earnings online.
• LOOK for any remaining Box Tops clips on packages. If you find some, clip them and send them to school!
• SPREAD THE WORD about Box Tops!
FUN TIP: You can also use the “Invite Friends” feature in the app to ask friends and family to help support our school!

Your earnings may seem small, but they really do add up. The more people that participate, the bigger the impact we can make. So let’s give our teachers the support they need and help give more kids the opportunity to dream. Little by little, we can help make a BIG difference.
